Scholarship Recipients 2020
2020 Scholarship Recipients
On May 15, 2020 we selected two more recipients of the Griffin Moody Scholarship. As is the case each year, we are proud and excited to announce that Katlynne Grundy and Taylor Hampson are our two deserving seniors this year. As we do each year, we narrowed the field of applicants down to eight finalists, and then interviewed each of them to select our two winners. All finalists were very accomplished and will surely do great things with their lives, but we felt Katlynne and Taylor personified all the characteristics that we look for. We know Griffin would be pleased with our choices.
Katlynne Grundy
Katlynne was a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the Stellar Academy of Engineering, where she earned several AutoCAD certifications. While at Nease she was very involved in the Reverb Church Youth Ministry, including leading a preschool class and bible study. During her last two years in school she also worked many hours each week at Chick-fil-A.
Katlynne will attend the University of North Florida in the fall where she will pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.
Taylor Hampson
Taylor was a member of the National Honor Society, and the Math, Science, & Hispanic Honor Societies, and a National AP Scholar. He was selected to attend the Florida American Legion Boys State during his junior year. Taylor participated on the Varsity Track and Cross Country teams at Nease, and was captain of both teams. Taylor’s volunteer work included tutoring fellow Nease students, Blessings in a Backpack, and many other activities.
Taylor will attend Georgia Tech in the fall, where he will pursue a degree in Nuclear Engineering.
