Scholarship Recipients 2024
2024 Scholarship Recipients
On May 3, 2024, we awarded two more scholarships to graduating Nease High School seniors. The recipients of this year’s Griffin Moody Scholarship are Ellakate Rolf and Kayla Shreve. Ellakate and Kayla were selected after interviewing the seven finalists, and while all the finalists were very accomplished in their own right, we were most impressed with Ellakate and Kayla for their overall accomplishments both in and out of school, and their ambitions going forward. As with all of our recipients over the years, we’re confident Griffin would be most pleased with our selections for this legacy.
Ellakate Rolf
Ellakate was very involved in many Nease activities over her four years there, including Beaches Go Green, Kindness for Kids club, Nease Spirit and Nease Yearbook. She was the editor of the yearbook her senior year, but was active throughout her years there. Ellakate was in the Academy of Digital Design and used her skills to create and manage Nease’s Instagram account, Nease Spirit, a job she admitted was going to be hard to turn over once she graduated, but she has been grooming some underclassmen to take the helm all year. Her real passion is spreading awareness of the meaning of childhood cancer through a club she founded called Gold Rush, and showing support for all childhood cancer patients through fundraising. She faces some physical challenges in her life that she has not let define or restrict her. Ellakate has a positive outlook and an effervescent personality that will help her excel at whatever she chooses to do.
Ellakate will enter FSU in the fall and will major in advertising.
Kayla Shreve
Within the walls of Nease, Kayla enjoyed spending time with others and was involved with clubs such as DECA club, National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. In addition to regular classes at Nease, she also did Dual Enrollment for 2 years and was in the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism for 4 years. Outside of Nease, she enjoys Martial Arts and is even an instructor and helps with camps and art projects at the Martial Arts Academy. In addition, she works with kids’ camps and in the nursery at the Lodge and Club, where she enjoys setting up and running kids events. Kayla has a wonderful confidence about her that will serve her well in the future. She is hardworking and has her eye on a very specific major that she peaked her interest when she took Psychology in the 10th grade. She ultimately wants to work for Marriott International, pulling together her hospitality experience and her major. She impressed us with her drive and maturity, not many 18 year olds know what they want to do!
Kayla will be attending UCF and will study Industrial Organizational Psychology.
